Effective April 27, the HIO will update its 24/7 emergency phone line to 617-495-5400.

International students, scholars, and their dependents experiencing an immigration- or visa-related emergency can call this number at any time to reach a member of the HIO staff for assistance.

As with the previous number (857-302-3772), the new number should only be used for immigration-related emergencies, such as:

1. Loss of your passport or other important visa documents while traveling.
2. A visit by a government official at home or on campus.
3. Detainment at a U.S. port of entry, such as an airport.
4. Threat of deportation or removal.

Calls to the old number will forward to the new one. However, please use the new number for the fastest response.
