Advisors are here to support Harvard's international students, scholars, and their dependents on a wide range of issues. This page provides information on:

Office Hours

You may connect with an HIO advisor through daily virtual advisor on call sessions, office hours with your HIO advisor, or by making an appointment. Please contact your HIO advisor directly for more information, or email internationaloffice@harvard.edu.

Daily, Virtual Drop-in Hours with the HIO

An HIO Advisor-on-Call will be available via Zoom during the following dates/times:

  • Monday – Friday from 9:00 a.m. – 10:00 a.m.
  • Monday – Friday from 4:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.

Please note that all times are Eastern Time, and exclude holidays. This service is offered via Zoom on a first-come, first-serve basis, and is intended for multiple international students and scholars with quick questions about standard advising topics, including travel, OPT, STEM OPT, Social Security Numbers, etc. To access the Advisor-on-Call waiting room during these times, please use the meeting link below:

School-specific Office Hours

Some HIO advisors hold drop in office hours during the academic year for their advising populations. If your HIO advisor does not have office hours posted below, you may use the HIO general office hours above, contact your HIO advisor directly via email, or book an appointment.

If you are a current student or scholar, this resource page is for you. Prospective students and scholars should reach out to their respective schools/departments.

Please review the Who Is My Advisor section below to find the appropriate contact to make an appointment. (If you have trouble finding out who your HIO advisor is, please email us.)

DO NOT book an appointment with another advisor if you find that your advisor has no current availability.

Once an appointment is made successfully, you will receive a confirmation e-mail. Please be sure to read the e-mail prior to your appointment because it has important information such as what you may need for the appointment. Advisors have the discretion to cancel your appointment if it was created incorrectly.
