Computers At Harvard The ability to use computers at Harvard is essential to your success. There are two major organizations that provide a wide range of services for computer users at Harvard. They are the University Information Systems (UIS) and Harvard Arts and Sciences Computing Services (HASCS).

The University Information Systems (UIS) has several locations throughout the University with its headquarters located at 60 Oxford Street . UIS provides a number of low cost computer and telephone services to the Harvard community. The Technology Product Center (TPC) is a branch of UIS that sells computers, printers, and software at bargain prices. TPC is located at 26 Dunster Street (617-495-5450). TPC also provides maintenance for computers and other accessories through its Technical Services division. They also provide assistance for PC, MAC, and Mainframe users, software training and demonstrations, and a computer lab for use by members of the Harvard community. The other major organization that provides computer services to members of the Harvard community is the Harvard Arts and Sciences Computing Services (HASCS). HASCS administers approximately 300 workstations in various labs around the University. Through these computers you have access to general course information at Harvard, the Veritas Information Network (VINE) which contains campus information, telephone directories, job listings, the Internet, the Harvard On-Line Library Information System (HOLLIS), Student Employment Office Listings or you may use them to set up an account for electronic mail. Access to most of these options is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

UIS and HASCS are only two of the organizations that provide computer service for Harvard affiliates. You should also check with your department or school and find out if there are any specific computer related services offered.
