Host Program for International Students
Volunteers/Hosts
Who are the volunteers?
They are Harvard alumni, Harvard employees and local residents who usually live in the Greater Boston area. The local residents are usually referred to the program by other volunteers. By participating in the program volunteers become a part of this grass roots diplomatic effort to enrich the lives of international students beyond the classroom walls and at the same time enrich their own lives.
Who are the students?
They are men and women enrolled in Harvard's graduate schools. They come from many nations and range in age from their early twenties to late forties. Some are accompanied by spouses and/or children. Generally, students are enthusiastic, intelligent, and eager to learn, both in their classrooms and in their new surroundings.
Join the Host Program for International Students!
To be part of a group of special people who help make Harvard a friendlier place for newly arrived international graduate students. By joining the Host Program for International Students, you join the hundreds of volunteers who, over the past 45 years, have enriched the lives of thousands of students beyond the ivy walls, and at the same time, found their own lives enriched. A relatively small effort can bring big rewards. Your kindness reflects Harvard, the Boston community, and in fact the United States as a whole. Hosting is a way in which one person can make a difference! See the on-line application form to the left.
