Welcome to the Harvard Administrators Web Site
The Harvard International Office (HIO) has prepared the following materials related to sponsoring visas for international student, scholars, and their family members. These materials are intended for Harvard (and affiliated hospital) administrators responsible for processing visa requests to the HIO. This website will be expanded and modified as procedures change. - Scholar Visas:
Please select from the links to left for scholar visa sponsorship topics. Who are foreign scholars? Foreign Scholar (sometimes called International Scholar) is a generic term used nationwide to describe an individual not enrolled in a formal degree program in the US, who holds a temporary, non-immigrant visa, and who engages in scholarly activities including teaching and/or research. At Harvard, foreign scholars may be faculty members, postdoctoral or research fellows, or visiting scholars with academic appointments. Please see the Visiting Research Fellow Policy Statement for information on sponsorship of students coming from abroad to do research at Harvard. Go Here. In general, the University does not provide visa sponsorship for staff positions that can be easily filled by U.S. workers.
- Advisors in the HIO:
Each area of the University that sponsors foreign scholars has an Advisor in the HIO. Please see the "Find Your Advisor" link to determine the Advisor for your school or department. Go Here.
