Office Hours

The HIO office hours are Monday to Friday, 9:00 am to 3:00 pm (except for holidays).

Building Security Procedures
Please be aware that Holyoke Center security officers will ask all individuals entering the building for their Harvard ID’s or evidence of Harvard affiliation. International students, scholars and family members who have just arrived in the United States may present passports and visa documents in order to have access to the HIO or any office in Holyoke Center.

University Holidays
Most Harvard offices are open Monday through Friday from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. University offices, banks, post offices, and many stores close in observance of legal holidays. The University usually closes for a week between Christmas and New Year’s Day.

Public Transportation
The Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA or "T") provides convenient service to Harvard Square. The Harvard Station is one block from Holyoke Center, and is serviced by the subway's Red Line as well as several bus routes.

Driving Directions

From Logan Airport

  1. Upon leaving Logan Airport, follow the signs for the "Airport (Sumner) Tunnel"/ Interstate 93. There is a toll for the tunnel.
  2. Get into the left-hand lane and follow the signs for I-93 North into the tunnel
  3. Take I-93 North to Exit 25 and follow the signs for STORROW DRIVE
  4. Storrow Drive will turn into SOLDIER'S FIELD ROAD, continue onto Soldier's Field Road keeping the Charles River to your right
  5. Follow Soldier's Field Road to the HARVARD SQUARE exit
  6. At the Harvard Square exit make a right and cross the bridge (Larz Anderson Bridge)
  7. Proceed straight through the first set of lights onto John F. Kennedy (JFK) Street
  8. Proceed straight through the second set of lights keeping in the right-hand lane
  9. At the third set of lights you will come to the intersection of JFK and MT. AUBURN STREETS
  10. Take a right onto Mt. Auburn Street
  11. is a one-way street, proceed to the left-hand lane
  12. Take the second left onto Holyoke Street, the building on your left is Holyoke Center. There will be an entrance on the left for the basement level parking garage.

From the Massachusetts Turnpike (I-90)

  1. Follow Interstate 90 (Mass Pike) East to Exit 18
  2. Follow the signs for Allston
  3. Merge onto Cambridge Street
  4. Take a left onto SOLDIER'S FIELD ROAD
  5. Follow Soldier's Field Road to the HARVARD SQUARE exit
  6. At the Harvard Square exit make a right and cross the bridge (Larz Anderson Bridge)

Parking

Parking in Harvard Square is difficult. Limited street parking (metered) is available. There are some local parking garages available for public use. Harvard University Parking is generally not available to visitors without prior notice.
